Key point: Even though capitalism or free enterprise can be abused and misused by sinful and selfish human beings, it still remains a self-evident reality that the God of the Bible is its architect.

In this, the third of four articles in which we are exploring twelve Bible passages that are friends to free enterprise and enemies to socialism, we come now to our sixth passage, which we will look at momentarily. Here is a quick review of the passages we’ve examined thus far, along with some additional pertinent information.

- In part 1 examined Exodus 20:15,17, but we did so against the backdrop of an understanding that (1) socialism is an enemy of individual private property rights; and (2) capitalism, or free enterprise, is an ally. Although very few pastors and other religious leaders will emphasize this principle, private property rights are God-given rights. These include ownership of tangible assets and the freedom to decide how one will use the resources that are his. Moreover, these rights are just as inherent as all the other rights reflected in the Ten Commandments. In other words…
